The Department of Physics is located in the new campus of the University of Crete at Voutes, seven kilometers southwest of Heraklion, next to the University Hospital.

Location / Access
The Department of Physics is housed in the same building complex with the Department of Biology in the Univeristy of Crete campus southwest of Heraklion. Detailed maps of all levels of the Physics Bldg, as well as the numbers of offices, are available in the following PDF file.
The Department of Physics can be reached from downtown Heraklion in ~20min by taxi (typical fare ~10 Euros) or by regular public bus line 11 (ticket price 2.1 Euros paid in cash to the bus driver, or 1.6 Euros with tickets bought at kiosks and machines). To reach it by car from the airport take the National Road and then drive east towards the direction of Rethymnon. After approximately 7km take the 3rd exit (direction "Moires") and go south following the signs towards the University of Crete and the Foundation of Research and Technology - Hellas (FORTH). After another 4km you will see the white Physics Bldg on your right.

Heraklion can be reached from the mainland Greece by plane with direct flights from Athens in ~40min or from Thessaloniki in ~50min. Aegean Airlines offers a number of flights daily. Direct charter flights from various cities of northern europe are also available, especially during the tourist season (April - October). Weather
Weather predictions based on the weather station on the roof of the Physics Bldg are available here. In general, the weather in Heraklion is mild in the winter and warm/hot in the summer.
